the cupcake queen stands corrected.

I would like to offer my sincerest and deepest apologies for stating incorrect information in a previous post (daphne + the impsons + cupcakes = happiness). I posted that my fly friend, Matt Impson had lost over 150lbs and while techinically I was correct in stating this, Matt pointed out that he had in fact not lost 150 but a whopping 170.8.

Please accept my apologies. :)

you are my cuppycake! :)

bookclubs, vampires & cupcakes, oh my!!!

Back in August, I started a book club with some of my favorite people (you know who you are: jacqui, dana, brandy & candace!!). Each month we take turns choosing a book and hosting the get-together. This month, Dana (or as I have affectionately called her since grade school..Dana Burger), chose the book, "Let the Right One In". Now, one of the reasons I love book club so much is that it forces me to read things that I wouldn't normally, this book being a prime example. It's a brilliantly creepy vampire book (note: my boring, sweater vest wearing self generally chooses memoirs or something incredibly non-ficition.)!! So, Dana thought it was a very appropriate book for the month of October (Halloween and all) and asked that I make red velvet cupcakes (it is a vampire book afterall) with buttercream frosting in honor of our slightly terrifying book selection, to which I happily obliged.

Dana was lucky to find the movie version of the book at target so not only did we eat a wonderful dinner provided by Dana herself (bow tie pasta with a delicious vodka sauce and french bread with pesto....yes lawd!) and have a wonderful discussion about the book, but we also watched the movie!!

mmmmm.....

check out the beautiful red color......

daphne + the impsons + cupcakes = happiness

Early this morning(7am to be exact!), I was very happy to celebrate my friend Daphne's birthday with cupcakes, coffee and good conversation. Daphne and I met a few years back when she was an intern at the organization I was working for. We instantly hit it off and became fast friends. Soon after, I left the program for a new job and Daphne finished her internship and got her master's degree in social work (first master's degree in her family - just wanted to point that out!). Lucky for me, Daphne and I ended up being co-workers again for over a year while working in a mentoring program together. Sadly, I don't get to see Daphne as much as I'd like to because I took a new job back in August. So, I thought her birthday would be a great time to catch up and celebrate the fabulousness that is her. Below are some pictures of the festivities, which include the other partner in crime in the mentoring program, Matt, and his lovely wife and my dear friend, Jacqui. These three people make me very happy, even at 7am! :)

Note: Matt's sad little cupcake is not a cupcake queen creation! :) Matt has lost over 150 pounds on weight watchers and is looking fly these days. The reason he is looking so fly is because of his neurotic discipline, which honestly makes me want to throw up......just a little! Seriously, I am super proud of Matt and what he has accomplished and quite frankly, when he pulled out his mini cupcake so that he could be a part of the party, Daphne, Jacqui and I thought it was the funniest thing we had ever seen. Good times, I tell you!!

How can you not love these two??? Honestly, they make me happier than cupcakes. Who knew?

My sweet friends, Jacqui and Daphne enjoying scrumptious german chocolate cupcakes. I love these girls!
Happy Birthday, Daphne! You are loved!

margaret's build-your-own cupcake party

This past Friday, I had so much fun showing these sweet girls how to decorate cupcakes. Truthfully, they didn't need much help. They were awesome and so creative! Happy Birthday, Margaret!

Check out Margaret's dog, it was my favorite cupcake of the night!

Are they adorable, or what?!?

Thanks, Robert & Brandy!!!

I am beyond blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. Two of those amazing people are Robert and Brandy Stroud, who are dear friends of mine and just so happen to be the most sickeningly adorable newlyweds I've ever had the pleasure to know, love and occasionally gag about. :) Seriously, they are amazing and to prove to everyone how amazingly wonderful they are, I have posted pictures of the fantastic book that they gave me last week. This is the second cupcake book they have given me for no particular reason other than they are simply the nicest, most thoughtful and supportive people a girl could know. Thank you, Robert and Brandy for the cupcake book, but more importantly, for your friendship!!
The sweetest inscription I've ever read:
