pinkalicious!

My friend told me about the most adorable children's book, Pinkalicious. It's a fabulous story about a little girl who eats so many pink cupcakes that she turns pink!! Needless to say, I instantly fell in love with the book and thought it would be a fantastic Christmas gift for my ridiculously cute cousin, Kaylee. Kaylee spent a few days with me this past week and we read Pinkalicious somewhere near a zillion times and we made Pinkalicious cupcakes! The cupcakes were pink, pink, pink!! :)

Kaylee was a cupcake pro!
Someone kept stealing a taste.... :)

Being that these were Pinkalicious cupcakes we couldn't keep boring old white cake....

So, with a little help from our friend, pink icing color.....

Voila! We had pink cake!!

And, of course, we had pink buttercream frosting....yummmmm!

a few white spinkles.....

and a cherry on top!!
Pinkalicious cupcakes!!!

We had just enough batter left-over to make Kaylee a jumbo or what I like to call QUEEN size Pinkalicious cupcake just for her!!

the cupcakequeen goes to new york!

I had the pleasure of visiting my fabulous brother (who lives in Manhattan) over Thanksgiving. The one thing you should know about my brother is that the only thing he does better than being a brother is being a teacher. It made my heart happy to be able to see firsthand the amazing work that he does and the amazing ways in which he is leaving long-lasting positive imprints on the lives of the children he comes in contact with each day at The Bronx Charter School for Children where he teaches music to frankly, some of the most adorable children I've ever seen! Also, it made my heart happy to be able to share the cupcake queen love with he and his co-workers by hooking them up with some pre-Thanksgiving cupcake goodness.

My brother - the best teacher I know!!! Also, the best 1/2 marathon-er I know! Yes, he completed his first 1/2 marathon the weekend before Thanksgiving. In case you were wondering, pretty much, he does EVERYTHING amazingly well!! :)

geaux tigers!

My amazing friend, Helen, requested LSU cupcakes for her family get-together. I happily accepted the mission. Below are the results......not too shabby if I do say so myself! :)

I got a little crazy and decided to make the cake purple & gold too!!

The cutest LSU fan on the planet, Maggie.

Seriously, have you ever seen a more adorable kid? I thought not!!

Maggie is hardcore, she had cupcakes for breakfast!!! A girl after my own heart!!!

the cupcake queen stands corrected.

I would like to offer my sincerest and deepest apologies for stating incorrect information in a previous post (daphne + the impsons + cupcakes = happiness). I posted that my fly friend, Matt Impson had lost over 150lbs and while techinically I was correct in stating this, Matt pointed out that he had in fact not lost 150 but a whopping 170.8.

Please accept my apologies. :)

you are my cuppycake! :)

bookclubs, vampires & cupcakes, oh my!!!

Back in August, I started a book club with some of my favorite people (you know who you are: jacqui, dana, brandy & candace!!). Each month we take turns choosing a book and hosting the get-together. This month, Dana (or as I have affectionately called her since grade school..Dana Burger), chose the book, "Let the Right One In". Now, one of the reasons I love book club so much is that it forces me to read things that I wouldn't normally, this book being a prime example. It's a brilliantly creepy vampire book (note: my boring, sweater vest wearing self generally chooses memoirs or something incredibly non-ficition.)!! So, Dana thought it was a very appropriate book for the month of October (Halloween and all) and asked that I make red velvet cupcakes (it is a vampire book afterall) with buttercream frosting in honor of our slightly terrifying book selection, to which I happily obliged.

Dana was lucky to find the movie version of the book at target so not only did we eat a wonderful dinner provided by Dana herself (bow tie pasta with a delicious vodka sauce and french bread with pesto....yes lawd!) and have a wonderful discussion about the book, but we also watched the movie!!

mmmmm.....
